The Swiss-Vietnamese Business Gateway, in partnership with the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce, organizes the business seminar titled Bac Ninh – where to base your production in Vietnam in Zurich on 29 August 2023 to provide Swiss and neighboring European manufacturers, who eye expanding and diversifying their production base in Asia, with a big picture and practical information from one of the most attractive production sites in Southeast Asia.

Bac Ninh at a glance
Smallest among the 63 cities and provinces of Vietnam in terms of area, yet Bac Ninh has ranked “number one” in the Southeast Asian country in terms of manufacturing output, reaching 65 billion US dollars in 2021. The northern province of 1.5 million inhabitants also ranks 8th for economic size, 4th for GDP per capita, and 2nd for import-export turnover accounting for 13.4% of the entire country’s turnover.
The impressive economic achievement that Bac Ninh has scored over the last three decades, with an average annual growth at 14% between 1997-2021, is attributed to its favorable geographic location, quality and well-connected infrastructure, trained labor force, supportive economic policies and incentives, and an efficient administration.
Dozens of multinational corporations from 39 countries and territories such as Samsung, Canon, Foxconn, PepsiCo have chosen Bac Ninh for their Southeast Asian production base due to the province’s proximity to the capital Hanoi and Noi Bai International Airport (40 km), to Hai Phong seaport (90 km), and to Lang Son border gates with China (150 km). Renowned Swiss precision and hi-tech manufacturers such as ABB, Sika and Oerlikon Balzers have also joined the list of foreign direct investors in Bac Ninh that have committed 24 billion US dollars.
Recent geopolitical and trade competitions have strengthened Vietnam’s position as a preferred location for the world production chain adjustments since the 100-million inhabitant economy has enjoyed domestic political stability and free trade treatments from all major economies in the world.
Bac Ninh has thus seen its 10 operating industrial parks filled up by more than 90% and is completing another six (6) to house selective “2 less 3 high” investors. The “two less” concerns land and labor uses, while the “three high” favors technology, investment rate and economic efficiency.
This seminar aims to provide Swiss and neighboring European manufacturers, who eye expanding and diversifying their production base in Asia, with a big picture and practical information from the ground.
